The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) protects qualified individuals with disabilities from employment discrimination. An individual with a disability must be qualified to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation to be protected by the ADA. Reasonable accommodation also must be made to enable an individual with a disability to participate in the application process and to enjoy benefits and privileges of employment equal to those available to other employees.
